Happy Birthday Dot! Pic is of course of The Flying Scotsman up at Bury not long back. (Dot might like that pic)
Raining here just now but it’s shifting most of the ice that’s on side-streets. Just had a walk out and it’s not too cold but not really bike weather. (Mrs C was garsping when we got back)
Watched that Bancroft malarkey again last night (nothing much other than that on) and it’s so far fetched it’s a joke. But, later, wotched an old X-Files – one with tiny insects from old trees attacking folk. Within minutes of watching there was a body, stuck up trees, in a web! That’s more like it!
Nippy again today so no bike-riding allowed. Instead a short-story knocked-out and shoved here in part – more parts later.
Very cold last night apparently and today, again, roads are closed, schools are closed, trains are not running etc. Good job we’re not in (say) Russia isn’t it!
Watched most of ‘Bancroft’ last night. It’s a new up-to-the-minute, awesome, TV cop show. In truth it was quite bland. The female copper (Sarah Parish) had a brilliant white space-age kitchen – yet they ate pizza’s from boxes and there wasn’t a cup or plate or salt-pot anywhere. It just wasn’t real. It looks like Bancroft is the killer too – so that’s it, intrigue over. Detection not needed. In other words, once again, it’s a soap like Emmerdale or Corrie.
Half an inch of snow is melting but ice was bad underfoot this morning. Still on cold side.
Checked-out the new ‘cycle lane’ thingy at Radcliffe. It looks like being a main road crossing for cyclists (?) i.e., new traffic lights. But it’s costing a fortune. Well, noticed a new camera had been installed there this morning. Nuff said. Notices at new supermarket site just say ‘Opening soon’. Waited ages for a bus for 98 return journey this morning – umpteen 524’s though. A Radcliffe/Bury service would be ideal – there used to be one.
Apparently a few inches of snow, down south, is causing havoc with schools, trains and airports.
Luckily, here, those aren’t really used!
Cold and frosty at the moment so safer walking than on two wheels. A touch of snow last night? A pack-animal was needed this morning for a trip to B&M’s which was warm work.
There’s a Million Dollar Quartet coffee (tea!) mug on me shelf now – all the way from Memphis.
Got me £10.00p ‘Chrissy Present’ from H.M. government. Might donate it to Guido Fawkes website – for, you know, historical reasons …
Update a bit later…Wotched the new Jurassic World trailer at facebook … looks awesome – Jeff Goldblum’s at it again … ‘life, – finds a way …’
Okay for morning bike-ride and then two intrepids arrived home and collapsed on chairs and couch.
Headlines in daily wail were about Strictly and/or Holly Willoughby. Nuff said.
Bad weather, apparently, from Thursday.
But the real big news is that new Jurassic Park trailers will be on Facebook next week. There are a couple of very short ‘scenes’ already shown – one where Dallas and Chris are running from smoking explosions and dinosaurs and another where a close-up of a docile T-Rex shows it with a mammalian rather than reptilian eye. Mmm … definitely a pet for Chris – he’ll probably ride the thing.
Picture from a sunny March 25th this year.
Drizzly and dull again but not cold so a few miles on two wheels done while there’s the chance – really cold weather is forecast for next week. (It’ll probably be roasting!)
Months on and some folk still wwhinge about brexit malarkey. Bill is now £50,000,000,000.00p. How our cash is wasted eh? That’s fifty billion quid, that’ll have to be borrowed. Perhaps we should be asking how much the eu will pay us to stay in!
Drizzly rain so no bike-ride just yet – very frosty last week which is dodgy on two wheels for folk over 5 years old.
Folk across pond pictured in overcoats – it must be nippy over there too. But, apparently, there’s a (major) US tax-cut in the offing.
Bad weather yesterday so no bike-ride. A bit better today but got soaked up Bury. Pic taken about one year ago along Hinds Lane (I think).
In France, apparently, there’s a huge rise in demand for Private exorcisms.
Mail Online has a front-page section entitled: Westminster in Turmoil. Love it. Three speed cameras (around Kidderminster I think) have pulled £25,000,000.00p in three years! No wonder those govern-mental are trying to annoy cyclists by making ’em wear helmets and hi-viz – they want us off bikes and into cars!
Coldish this morning and rain meant a shortened bike-ride. Locally all the roads seem to be up while they fit new cable equipment. Pic today from February.
On the fun front ‘new’ tax ‘rules’ (slid in in budget small-print) mean hmrc can access bank accounts to take cash if they think you’re not paying enough.
And they’re debating whether or not to make cyclists wear helmets and Hi-Viz stuff. I’m already looking at the dirtiest diesels I can find …
And a gentleman in Kent has been awarded Grave-Digger of the Year. Well dug that man.
The beeb have found another Doctor Who – he’s an old actor called Tom Baker … don’t tell ’em, but he’s done it before …
Folk here are off wannabe watching. Tonight it’s perhaps the best one of all. (he is pretty good) But if they return and say, “He were crap!” We’ve got major problems.
