Costly links?

I’ve just been reading, in the Mail, about the proposed new rail-link from London to all points north. As ever the idea ‘sounds’ great, a ‘simple’ plan – on paper.
Sadly, when you get to the detail that estimated £30,000,000,000 price tag for tax-payers suddenly seems way, way too modest! (GAWD! At 250 mph, they’ll need that per month for Sick-Bags!!)
Not that I know anything about railways and their installation costs.
Far from it.

What I DO have, sadly, (as do many of my age-group) is many, many years ‘experience’ of ‘brilliant’ government scam…er, sorry, schemes :) that have cost us oh so dear.

Already I envisage another on the cards.
And when I want a ‘link’ I just send an e-mail….now that IS High-Speed and costs me nowt!
I mean, on this tiny island, why would anyone ( i.e., in VIABLE numbers; i.e. more than THREE at a time!) want to shoot, roller-coaster style, from London to (say) Carlisle anyway – beats me.

:(
