Apparently some TV adverts are being shown with sound tracks that are far too loud.
Actually, for Phyllosan and Saga promo’s, to some of us that’s quite a boon. But there is, I feel, another problem that may loom as TV sets grow in size.
A year or so back I ripped-out our fireplace entirely (the council went mad!) and made a fairly neat, simple, big square hole where it had been. I had pipe-dreams of a set of walnut shelves – with humidor, pipe-rack of briars and myriad picture books of Ancient Egypt, all within easy reach of my deeply red Chesterfield army.
Pipe-dreams quickly dissolved as my wife immediately got the biggest TV set that would just fit into the waiting hole that I’d made. Now this is ok, especially when Time Team is on. But there is a problem.
At night, when lights are all off and something banally USA is on a strange thing happens. During most programmes and adverts there are times when the screen flashes pure, brilliant white for a few seconds. Now this may be harmless, but after a year or so I have noticed that family members do have a marked Mediteranean glow about them….
Mind you, I haven’t heard them complain…
